The Price of the Light is a story suspended between two worlds.

Deep beneath the surface, one figure remains close to the ocean floor, surrounded by the familiar world below. Above her, another rises through the blue, pulled upward toward a brilliant golden light containing a mysterious watching eye.

Between them stretches a line.

A connection.

Perhaps even a choice.

The ascending figure reaches toward the light with one hand while still holding the line with the other. She has not completely released what lies beneath her, yet she cannot stop reaching for what waits above.

That tension gives the painting its meaning.

Nearly everyone has a light they pursue. Success. Knowledge. Freedom. Love. Faith. Recognition. Truth. Something that seems capable of transforming life if only we can reach it.

But light has a price.

To rise toward one thing often means moving away from another. Every transformation demands that something be surrendered. Security can be exchanged for possibility. Familiarity for discovery. Belonging for independence. Innocence for knowledge.

And sometimes we do not know the true cost until we have already begun the ascent.

The eye within the light introduces another question. Is the figure reaching toward enlightenment, salvation, knowledge, judgment, or merely another illusion watching from above?

The painting refuses to answer.

Instead, The Price of the Light captures the moment before the decision is complete, when the promise above remains irresistible and the world below has not yet disappeared.
