El Gallo celebrates the unmistakable character of the rooster through explosive color, movement, and Mexican imagery.
Set against the green, white, and red of the Mexican flag, the rooster seems to materialize from sweeping curls and spirals of color. Its exaggerated eyes and flowing form give the figure a mischievous personality, while the dense patterns surrounding it create a sense of constant movement.
The rooster has long carried associations with pride, courage, vigilance, masculinity, rural life, and the arrival of a new day. Here, those associations are transformed through a contemporary, almost psychedelic visual language.
