The Wound of Faith presents an ancient, almost archetypal figure surrounded by a turbulent world of spiraling red, orange, gold, and black. In her hand, one of humanity’s most recognizable symbols of faith has undergone a disturbing transformation: the cross has become a blade, and she presses it into her own heart.
Blood marks the wound while a solitary red tear descends from beneath her darkened eye. Yet her expression remains strangely composed, creating an unsettling contrast between physical suffering and spiritual surrender.
The imagery deliberately leaves open whether the cross represents salvation, sacrifice, devotion, institutional religion, or the wounds human beings sometimes endure in the name of belief.
The Wound of Faith asks a more uncomfortable question: when does the thing we look to for salvation become the very thing that wounds us?
