The eyes become the boundary between two worlds.
On one side is the person we encounter: the face, the expression, the identity presented to the world. Behind it exists something infinitely more complicated—memory, fear, desire, imagination, contradiction, experience, and thought.
We often believe that looking into someone's eyes allows us to understand them. But perhaps the eyes reveal only enough to remind us how much remains hidden.
The longer Behind the Eyes is viewed, the more uncertain the relationship becomes.
