Behind the Eyes explores the distance between what the world sees and what exists within us.

The eyes dominate the composition, surrounded by an explosion of color, movement, spiraling forms, and fragmented imagery. The face becomes less a portrait of a person than a doorway into something happening beneath the surface.

We see another person's eyes, expressions, and physical presence, but we can never completely experience the consciousness looking back at us.

Behind every face exists an interior world of memories, fears, desires, imagination, contradictions, and thoughts that may never be spoken.

The surrounding chaos can be read as that hidden landscape, the constant movement of consciousness concealed behind an outward appearance.

Behind the Eyes asks the viewer to look beyond the face itself and consider how little of another human being we can ever truly see.

And perhaps how much of ourselves remains hidden as well.

This collector's edition is strictly limited to 20 prints total across all available sizes. Each print is personally hand signed and individually numbered 1/20 through 20/20 by Michael J. Thomas and includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Khaos Art Studios documenting its place within the edition.

Once all 20 numbered impressions have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed.
